CK3 from Intermec

Intermec has just released its CK3 mobile computer, which delivers highly adaptable data and image capture capabilities, along with secure wireless communications, all in a highly durable handheld package.

The CK3 is specifically designed for warehouse operations and incorporates many capabilities never available before in one device, including 1D and 2D barcode scanning, both up-close and far-away, in any orientation and under varied lighting conditions.

“The CK3 offers the revolutionary EV12 linear imager, designed to give the best item scanning technology currently available,” says Intermec’s Senior Manager, Marketing, Asia Pacific Jack Tay.

“With an aggressive scan rate of 500 scans per second, the CK3 scans, faded, defaced or simply damaged barcodes where traditional lasers are left standing in the dust.”

“The CK3 also offers another cutting edge scanning technology called the EA20,” Tay says.

“Based on Intermec’s Area Imaging technology, it scans both 1D & 2D barcodes in any user friendly orientation. The amazing aspect of the EA20 is that unlike previous Area Imagers, it scans at the same distance, or in some symbologies, even longer distances than traditional laser scanners which are limited to 1D barcodes."

"All things being equal, one would be hard pressed to find a reason to continue using laser scanners when a CK3 outfitted with the revolutionary EA20 is available.”

In addition, the CK3 is the world's first rugged handheld device to offer Windows Mobile 6.1.

“Previous versions of Win Mobile had great advances but lacked the same level of security, access control, encryption that enterprises have implemented in their corporate policies,” Tay explains.

“Thus, they could manage these mobile handheld assets in the same manner as their laptops, servers and desktop computers.

With WM6.1, all these capabilities are fully implemented.”

Other features include 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Radio with Cisco® Compatible Extensions (CCX) certification, VoIP communications supported and Speech recognition capable among others.

The CK3 begins shipping in late October.
