Driver licensing laws and industrial relations in the freight and logistics industry are among the topics that will be discussed during this year’s Freight Week, according to event organisers.

“The program will provide information on the current and future trends in recruitment, how the industry is promoted and how we are working to change driver licensing laws,” Victorian Transport Association (VTA) CEO, Philip Lovel, said. “The afternoon session on industrial relations will cover all the vital issues managers need to know.

A variety of information sessions will be run during the week, including:

•      Workforce planning

•      Skills development

•      Cadetships

•      Driver licensing

•      Training

•      Industry promotion

•      Safe Rates – what is it and how will it impact your business?

•      Counseling employees – how to avoid an unfair dismissal claim.

•      Modern Awards – are you complying with your legal obligations?

•      Superannuation

•      Insurance

•      Workers compensation/rehabilitation

•      Health Programs

Freight Week 2011 is hosted by the Victorian Transport Association and the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce. It will be held from 5 to 9 September 2011 at the Melbourne Park Function Centre in Victoria.
