National freight network Northline has announced its first nationwide tender, inviting trucking companies to work with the business for the next three years.

Northline provides long haul, short haul and overnight freight forwarding throughout Australia. The company also offers warehousing and contract logistics solutions at more than 100,000 square metres of warehousing space.

Freight forwarding operations include both LCL and FCL services. The company’s national depot network includes Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs, Perth, and Broome.

Northline is inviting expressions of interest from companies seeking to become a preferred supplier to provide professional and reliable depot-to-depot and direct customer-to-customer road line-haul solutions.

The company’s chief executive officer, Craige Whitton, says this is the first time Northline has issued the tender nationally.

“Our objective in seeking expressions of interest nationally is to identify the major trucking companies with the range of resources and commitment to quality that fit both commercially and culturally with Northline,” Whitton said.

Initial responses are required by 23 August 2010 and the deadline for final expressions of interest is 22 September. A decision on the preferred supplier tender is due in late October.
