Crane manufacturer and crane servicing company Konecranes is celebrating 25 years in Australia, with plans for expansion underway in the mining, steel and infrastructure sectors.
A ceremony to mark the achievement was held at the company’s new Australian headquarters in Ingleburn, Sydney, where Konecranes president and CEO Pekka Lundmark, and Australasian managing director Brad Hyem, spoke of major initiatives in the mining, oil and gas, ports, steel and industrial infrastructure development sectors.
The ceremony, officiated by the Ambassador for Finland, Her Excellency Ms Maija Lahteenmaki, also celebrated the Konecranes Group’s recent expansion into Gladstone and the Hunter Valley, bringing its sales and service network to a total of 31 locations.
“The Asia Pacific is a region of great importance to Konecranes and our Australian operations play a significant role in the region,” said Lundmark.
“Our service organisation in particular is one of our strongest globally and the region looks to Australia for support and guidance as we expand into emerging markets. We also understand many Australian companies are expanding in the region and we look forward to partnering our customers as they break into new territories.”
Lundmark says that to continue to expand vigorously in such markets and to fulfil their mission of 'lifting business', Konecranes needs to have the right people with the right attitude in the right place.
“We will continue to invest in training and competence development to motivate our employees. Leadership skills will continuously be developed to make sure we are equipped to meet future challenges,” he said.
“The new Australian Headquarters for Konecranes here in Sydney will create a great new working environment for our employees as well providing a world class training facility to ensure our technicians are and continue to be the most expert in their field.”
