The Goodman Group has announced plans to develop a new facility for Schneider Electric in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria.

The facility, which has an estimated end value of $36 million, will be located at Ferntree Business Park in Notting Hill and owned by the Goodman Australia Industrial Fund.

It will include 5,465 square metres of office space, a 400 square metre warehouse, 1,839 square metres of speculative office space on the fourth floor, as well as a roof top deck and a café.

The new office has been designed by architects Gray Puksand, engineering consultants Hyder and will be built by Qanstruct.

The building will target a five star NABERS Energy and five star Green Star (Office v3) Design and As Built ratings, making it one of the most sustainable commercial office buildings in the Melbourne suburban commercial market, says Goodman.

The office will also incorporate sustainable features including high performance double glazing, recycled materials, extensive sun shading, rainwater harvesting, chilled beam air conditioning system, energy efficient lighting with daylight harvesting and the latest building management control systems.

“We are very excited to be partnering with Goodman to deliver a sustainable state-of-the-art office facility which will enable us to bring our Melbourne people together and showcase our range of energy management products and solutions,” said Stephen Hyams, Schneider’s director of real estate in the Pacific.

Schneider Electric has committed to a 10-year lease term. The company’s office will be the second major commercial development at the Ferntree Business Park.

Goodman has announced plans to create more than 40,000 square metres of modern commercial office space in the park over the next five years.
