The Australian Industrial Truck Association (AITA) has launched its “Watch out for your mates” campaign as part of National Forklift Safety Week which concluded last week.
According to AITA President Steve Stewart, the campaign aims to create awareness of the functions carried out daily on fork-lifts that can potentially cause injury to operators and co-workers.
“[The campaign’s] message was designed to appeal to all workers and is based around the long admired "Aussie" tradition of looking after the well-being of family and friends at all times,” said Stewart in a statement.
“We are extremely excited about this campaign designed to help reduce accidents involving fork-lifts in the workplace and plan to make this an annual event so that the suppliers of materials handling equipment in Australia can make a positive contribution to the safety of all employees working with, or around, lift trucks every day.”
Leading manufacturer of materials handling equipment, Crown Equipment promoted AITA National Forklift through providing safety message posters that could be positioned in warehouses and other high traffic fork-lift areas, as well as stickers that AITA members can affix to fork-lifts being delivered and rented during the week.
National Forklift Safety Week concluded on 25 March 2011.
